Description
You are bidding on a SUPERB and 100% ORIGINAL WW2 German Luftwaffe Observer Badge! This was worn on the left breast of the uniform, as well as on various private purchase leather jackets, and flights suits.
The Observer’s Badge was introduced in March 1936 for award to Observers, Navigators and Bombardiers who had met the required criteria. The Observer’s badge was awarded when one completed operational flights over enemy territory, or a two months of active service.
Made by of a 2-piece zinc construction, this Luftwaffe Observer’s badge is in VERY NICE used condition! Sadly, due to the age, most of it’s finish has worn away, which is common for this type of badge…however traces of the original paint can be seen. There is some slight dirt and very minor traces of wear, but it could easily be cleaned up if needed. Features a standard laurel and oak leaf wreath, covered by a stylized eagle in flight. Manufacture is clearly marked as the standard “A” for F.W Assmann und Sohn. Would make a SUPERB addition to any collection or display!
