Description
You are bidding on an SUPERB and COMPLETE set of WW2 German Luftwaffe Flossenverstellung Holzrad (Trim Wheels), 109.411-29 H02, as used ONLY in the later Me109 G-K series fighter aircraft!
Installed next to the pilot, the flap/trim wheels allowed for manual adjustment of the flaps and trim. A roller chain (similar to a bicycle chin) connected to teeth on this wheel, and in turn, was attached to a rod or arm within the wings.
Made of wood, aluminum and steel this an EXTREMELT RARE Me109 Trim/Flap wheel set! It remains in AMAZING used condition, and was manufactured between 1943 and 1945 at the WNF Messerschmitt Factory. There is some slight surface corrosion on the steel parts from storage, but this could easily be cleaned up. Both wheels turn freely, and there is NO damage to any of the metal fittings! They also retains 90% original RLM66 cockpit paint! The rear wheels have a white over-paint, which was probably done to help differentiate between the flap and trim wheel. Some of the identification labels still exist. Both would have indicated, “Flossen Verstellung” and “Klappenverstellung” respectively. Due to the size of the cog wheels, this set would be correct for an Me109 G6 thru EARLY G10. No breaks, damage, or bends! I have indicated its location in the Me109 cockpit in the last photo. Probably one of the few that remain in the world, as wood items usually never survived. A new-made airworthy set would cost around $3500 to have made, so I have priced this original set accordingly. An PERFECT addition to any collection, display, or restoration project!
