You are bidding on a SUPERB and VERY RARE example of a 100% ORIGINAL WW2 German Luftwaffe Wood National Emblem (Swastika), as ONLY used on the Messerschmitt Me109 G/K Fighter Aircraft! This was brought back by a US Veteran who cut the piece out from an abandoned aircraft at war’s end.
Made of lightweight wood, this section is a SUPERB piece of history! Dating around 1944/1945, it retains 95% of it’s original paint and markings! Brought back by a US veteran, there are some slight wear and marks, but otherwise PERFECT! Though the veteran inscribed on the back that it came from an “observation plane”, it is 100% identifiable as being from a late-war Me109 G/K, equipped with the taller WOOD stabilizer. Originating from the starboard side of the Me109 G/K tail, some of the original wood rib structure still remains on the reverse. There is also some field applied “touch-ups” done to the paint in some areas. Measuring approx. 13″ x 13″, it would make for a SUPERB display! I have shown an image of another veteran removing a Swastika from the exact type of tail in the last photo. A VERY RARE addition to any collection or display!
