Description
You are bidding on a SUPERB example of a WW2 Imperial Japanese Navy Type 1 Model 1 Chronometric Tachometer, as used in the E13A “Jake “, E16A “Paul “, E14Y “Glen”, B4Y “Jean”, A5M “Claude”, K5Y “Willow”, E11K, and others!
This instrument measured the current engine RPM by the use of a mechanical connection. It was located on the main instrument panel of the Aichi E13A, Aichi E16A, Yokosuka E14Y, Yokosuka B4Y, Mitsubishi A5M, Yokosuka K5Y, KawanishiE11, and other reconnaissance and float planes!
Made of aluminum, brass, and steel, this AMAZING piece is of history, and was removed from a downed Japanese Fighter by a US Serviceman after the war. It still retains 98% of its original finish, as well as the mounting screws! It features a mid-war Type 4 aluminum data plate, clearly indicating the model, manufacture, and production number. The numbers and hands still glows when UV light is applied. Like most Japanese instruments, this item is VERY rare and would be a FANTASTIC addition to any Japanese Instrument Collection!
