Description
You are bidding on a EXTREMELY RARE example of a WW2 Imperial Japanese Navy +10/-10 Model 1 Rate of Climb Indicator! Though this was removed from a J2M “Jack” Aircraft, it was used in many of the Japanese Front Line Fighters such as the A6M “Zero, J7W, N1K “George”, B5N “Kate, P1Y “Francis”, M6A Seiran, and others! Brought back by a US Serviceman.
This instrument measured the vertical speed climb/decent using the surrounding air pressure. It was located on the main instrument panel of the Mitsubishi A6M, Mitsubishi J2M “Jack” Kyushu J7W, Kawanishi N1K “George”, Nakajima B5N “Kate, Kugisho P1Y “Francis”, and Aichi M6A Seiran.
Made of black bakelite by TKK, this piece is of EARLY manufacture. It was recovered from a downed Japanese J2M by a US Serviceman who was stationed in the Pacific during WW2. Some slight marks, but it still retains 90% of it’s original finish! It appears to be 100% functional, with no damage, and the dial still glows when UV light is applied! Data plate is complete, showing all manufacture information and a date of June 1940. I have indicated it’s location in the last photos. Would make for a SUPERB addition to any Japanese Instrument Collection or panel re-build!
