Description
You are bidding on a SUPERB example of a WW2 Imperial Japanese Army Silk Powder Bag, as used in conjunction with the Type 1 47mm Cannon!
A complete round of artillery ammunition, with the exception of blank ammunition, always consists of a projectile, propellant, and a primer. The propellant can either be black powder or smokeless powder in the form of cylindrical grains of various sizes. The propellant is packed into a shell casing or a combustible bag (a powder bag).
Made of silk, this is a FANTASTIC piece of history! There is some slight wear and marks damage, however it remains VERY SOLID with all markings intact! Markings indicate, “Type 1 47”, and a production date of “September 1942”. Would make a PERFECT addition to any collection or display!
