Description
You are bidding on a VERY NICE example of a WW2 German Wehrmacht 10×50 “Panzer” Binoculars & Case! This was brought back by US veteran at the end of the war, though I do not have any specific history.
The German Army used a wide variety of optical equipment, including a 6×30 (6 power magnification with 30mm objective lens, being the standard issued optics used by all branches of service). Though this type was the standard, specialized personnel required stronger optics (such as this 10×50), and were issues to personnel on a limited basis.
Due to their compact and lightweight design, the Roof Prism style was favoured by most Panzer Tank Crews.
Made by “BMJ” (Hendsolt Wezlar) of a large tooled alloy and aluminum construction, these 10×50 power binoculars are in EXCELLENT used condition! The lens bodies retain about 95% of their original late-war Dunkelgelb Paint and finish, with only slight marks and wear from handling. The aluminum end piece fittings retain approx. 95% of their original finish, and the eye sockets are intact. Some slight chips and wear, but nothing that takes away from the overall appearance. The focus adjustments still function perfectly on both eye pieces, and the optics are still EXTREMELY CLEAR with NO spotting or haziness! Optical alignment is also PERFECT! Comes complete with the original Ersatz leather case, which is dated 1944. One of the NICER sets I have seen in a while, it would make a PERFECT addition to any collection or display!
