Description
You are bidding on a VERY NICE example of a WW2 German Wehrmacht Trench Art Vase! Completely converted and non-functional, it is made during the war from a brass shell casing of a captured Soviet 4.5cm M1932 Anti-Tank Cannon! Brought back from Smolensk on the Eastern Front by a German serviceman.
The 45 mm anti-tank gun model 1932 (factory designation 19-K and GRAU index 52-P-243A) was a light quick-firing anti-tank gun used in the interwar period and in the first stage of the German-Soviet War. It was created by factory No. 8 which was located in now Korolyov city, under leadership of engineer V. Bering. It was essentially a copy of the German 3.7cm PaK36.
Made of brass, this German Veteran-Made TRENCH ART VASE is a FANTASTIC piece of history! There are some very slight wear and marks, however it remains VERY SOLID with much of the original patina! Though it is a bit difficult to see in the photos, the veteran inscribed “Smolensk 1941” into the side. A SUPERB addition to any collection or display!
