Description
The Richtkreis 40 (RK 40) aiming scope was developed for Artillery and MG units, and was used for measuring horizontal and vertical angles. It was an important instrument for initially sighting guns of all sizes prior to firing, and could be used for indirect fire on both the MG34 and MG42 lafettes. It also was used with mortars and other heavy artillery. In addition, the R40 shares the same tripod and support head as the SF 14z periscopes.
Made of brass and aluminum, this RK40 Aiming Sight is in AMAZING used condition! It retains 98% of its original Tan Dunkelgelb paint, with only minor marks due to the age. No corrosion and 100% COMPLETE, with a RARE manufacture code, indicating, “crj” for Otto Fennel u. Sohne K-G, Instrumente, Kassel, clearly stamped onto the side. Though the optics are VERY CLEAR, they are foggy/hazy as you can see in the last photo. Focus still works 100% correctly. All spirit levels are also functional! EASILY one of the nicest ones I have seen, it comes complete with the original leather case! NO damage to the case, and it is clearly marked as originally belonging to:
