WW2 German NSDAP – OBERSALZBERG LAMP – MARTIN BORMANN’S PRIVATE BUNKER – BERGHOF

You are bidding on a SUPERB and VERY RARE Enameled Steel Lamp / Lamp Shade as recovered from the WW2 German NSDAP “Obersalzberg”! This SPECIFICALLY came from Martin Bormann’s Private Bunker located inside the underground bunker system of the Berghof!

The Obersalzberg is a mountainside retreat situated above the market town of Berchtesgaden in Bavaria, Germany. Located about 120 kilometres (75 mi) south-east of Munich, close to the border with Austria, it is best known as the site of AH’s former mountain residence, the Berghof, and of the mountaintop Kehlsteinhaus, popularly known in the English-speaking world as the “Eagle’s Nest”.  All of the WW2 era buildings (except the Kehlsteinhaus, which still exists and now serves as a restaurant and tourist attraction) were demolished in the 1950s, but the relevant past of the area is the subject of the Dokumentationszentrum Obersalzberg museum, which opened in 1999.

Martin Ludwig Bormann (17 June 1900 – 2 May 1945) was a German Nazi Party official and head of the Nazi Party Chancellery, private secretary to Adolf Hitler, and a war criminal. After the war, he was convicted and sentenced to death in absentia for crimes against humanity. Bormann gained immense power by using his position as Hitler’s private secretary to control the flow of information and access to Hitler. He used his position to create an extensive bureaucracy and involve himself as much as possible in the decision making.

 Recovered in the 1990s, this is an AMAZING piece of history! Originating from Martin Bormann’s Private Bunker in the Berghof underground bunker system, there is some obvious wear, marks, and chips, but it is VERY solid otherwise! Retains 98% original enamel paint and finish, as well as some of the original wiring! As it takes a standard light bulb, it should be quite easy to make functional again! This item also comes with scans of original images of the underground facility; images of the EXACT lamp recovered; as well as a COA from Thomas Hoeller, who recovered the item himself while filming a documentary on this bunker system for Begafilm’s “History in Motion” series (link will be provided to the winning bidder). Measuring approx. 12″ x 14″ in size, this is probably the ONLY time you will find a piece from Martin Bormann’s private bunker! An EXTREMELY RARE piece of history, it would make a FANTASTIC addition to any collection or display!
