WW2 German Wehrmacht Heer Luftwaffe Kriegsmarine – LP34 – “MOD. HEER” – SIGNAL FLARE PISTOL – ZINC – VERY RARE!

You are bidding on an EXCELLENT and VERY RARE Zinc example of a WW2 German Wehrmacht LP34 “Mod. Heer” Signal Flare Pistol!  These were used in various applications for both on the ground signaling, and for in the air.

The Leuchtpistole 34 was a single shot, break action, smoothbore, flare gun designed and produced by Walther that was a successor to the earlier Leuchtpistole 26. The Leuchtpistole 26 was of steel construction, was blued to stop corrosion, and had dyed oak pistol grips. While the Leuchtpistole 34’s frame was machined from duralumin, the barrel was machined from steel, was blued to stop corrosion, and had bakelite pistol grips. Due to the use of light alloys, the Leuchtpistole 34 was lighter than its predecessor and the trigger guard was enlarged so the user could fire the gun in cold weather while wearing gloves.

In 1940, the designation “Mod. 34” was changed to “Mod. Heer”…and featured a different hammer as well as a load indicator.  Later changes included different types of grip plates and lanyard ring.

From 1943 and again to save the materials used, the model Heer is now manufactured in Zinc, which gives it the name Model Zink.
These characteristics are identical with the exception of weight (heavier, he now weighs 1.250 kg instead of 0.730 kg of duralumin Heer model) and a bare metal finish.  Only 32,800 zinc flare guns were made, of which 12,800 were produced by Erma and Berliner Lubecker.

Made of ZINC by Berlin Luebecker, this Flare Pistol is in EXCELLENT used condition!  Dated 1942, it retains approx. 95% original paint and finish!  There are some very slight marks and wear, but nothing that detracts.  100% complete, it is totally functional!  Clearly marked as having been manufactured by duv (Berlin Luebecker), it is clearly marked:

 All parts are original to this gun and part numbers match. Numerous Waffenamts and Inspection Stamps throughout. One of the grips is cracked, however I may have a spare to include if the winning bidder wishes to replace it. One of the RAREST Flare Guns available, it would make a FANTASTIC addition to any collection or display!
