WW2 German Wehrmacht Heer Luftwaffe Kriegsmarine – LP26 SIGNAL FLARE PISTOL – WALTHER – 1935 – VERY RARE!

You are bidding on an AMAZING early-war example of a WW2 German Wehrmacht late-model Model 26 (LP26) Signal Flare Pistol! These were used in various applications for both on the ground signaling, and for in the air.

On December 22, 1926, the Walther manufacturer patented what became the Heer 26 model (Heer = Army) and the production began in 1928.
Some of it characteristics inherit from the previous model (Hebel model) such as the calibre: 4 (or 26,65 mm). The weight of this model was 1,425 kilo, and was made of machined steel. The barrel was 232 mm long and the length of this pistol was 324 mm. The grip was made of wood (walnut). The markings are the following: On the left side: “Waffenfabrik Walther Zella Mehlis” and the Serial number (which is also repeated at the base of the barrel). On the right side are stamped acceptance hallmarks.

Between 1926 and 1934, the barrel was shortened and obtained the following characteristics: total length: 247 mm (instead of 324 mm),
total weight (empty): 1,325 kilos.

The original Leuchtpistole 26 was of steel construction, was blued to stop corrosion, and had dyed oak pistol grips. While the later Leuchtpistole 34’s frame was machined from duralumin, the barrel was originally machined from steel, blued to stop corrosion, and had bakelite pistol grips. Due to the use of light alloys, the Leuchtpistole 34 was lighter than its predecessor and the trigger guard was enlarged so the user could fire the gun in cold weather while wearing gloves.

Made of steel and wood, this short-barreled LP26 Signal Flare Pistol is in EXCELLENT used condition!  Dated 1935, it retains MUCH of the original paint and finish!  There are some very slight marks and wear, but nothing that detracts. 100% complete, it is totally functional!  Having been manufactured by Walther, it is clearly marked:

 Al parts are original to this gun and part numbers match.  Numerous Waffenamts, indicating “WaA4”; various Inspection Stamps depicting a “B / S / U” under an Imperial Crown; and a “4” in a circle. Being an LP26, it has the smaller trigger guard. Would make a FANTASTIC addition to any collection or display!
