Description
You are bidding on a FANTASTIC example of a 100% ORIGINAL WW2 German NSDAP 1:5000 scale Architectural Drawing of the, “NSDAP Hauptstadt der Bewegung” (NSDAP Movement Capital Building / Headquarters) in Munich! Brought back by a US Serviceman.
Capital of the NSDAP Movement is a National Socialist propaganda term for the city of Munich, which had become the center for the rise of Adolf Hitler’s National Socialist movement in the 1920s . According to Victor Klemperer, ” movement ” is so much the “essence of Nazism ” that The Movement even became its self-designation.
In 1934, on Königsplatz , which Hitler also called the “royal square” , a representative NSDAP party quarter was built next to the NSDAP party headquarters, “Brown House” . It included administrative buildings and temples of honor for the “martyrs of the movement” . The Haus der Kunst, which opened on July 18, 1937 with the Great German Art Exhibition, was in keeping with Munich’s “honorary title” . At the same time, the propaganda exhibition, “Degenerate Art”, which was stylized as a deterrent example, was taking place in the Hofgarten arcades. Munich was also one of the five so-called Führer cities (Munich, Hamburg, Nuremberg, Linz and Berlin), for which Hitler had megalomaniac reconstruction plans drawn up. Other cities under the Nazi sphere of influence were also given National Socialist honorary titles.
This is an AMAZING and EXTRAORDINARILY RARE reference for the WW2 collector! Made of heavy paper, it features a top view of the Munich NSDAP Headquarters Building, (“Brown House”, I believe). Unfortunately, this building was destroyed after the war, and the NS Documentation Center built in its place. Approx. 41″ in length when unfolded, it does feature some marks, wear and creases due to the age, but still remains in EXCELLENT condition! It is titled, “Hauptstadt der Bewengung Munchen – Die West-Achse“. It is dated “25. Okt. 1941” in the old “Sutterlin” script at the bottom. Would make a SUPERB addition to any collection or display!
