You are bidding on a VERY NICE and 100% ORIGINAL example of a WW2 Female Auxiliary Eagle Stick Pin!

Although the Luftwaffe had utilized civilian female employees in secretarial and clerical positions it was contrary to the NSDAP’s, Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei, (National Socialist German Worker’s Party), views on women to draft them into active military service roles. As the war progressed and additional manpower was needed at the front more and more women were recruited into service.

Besides the secretarial and clerical positions female civilians were also employed as Flugmeldedienstpersonel, (Aircraft Reporting Service), personnel that were tasked with operating assorted aircraft visual and sound detection equipment, and radar stations to warn of incoming enemy aircraft.

On February 26, 1941, the Luftwaffe constituted the Luftnachrichten Helferinnenschaft, (Corps of Women Signals Auxiliaries), which incorporated the Flugmeldedienstpersonel and were tasked with aircraft warning and communication services. The Flugmeldedienst and Luftnachrichten Helferinnenschaft personnel were outfitted with uniforms on June 11th 1940 which included overseas caps, jackets, blouses with neckties and skirts and work smocks. Originally the female auxiliaries were issued a Dienstnadel, (Service Brooch), consisting of Luftwaffe style national eagle within a circular surround, flanked with the letters, “L H”, indicating, Luftnachrichten Helferin until a new pattern Zivilabzeichen, (Civilian Badge), was introduced on April 11th 1942, for wear on the neck tie of the service uniform or on the lapel of civilian clothing by female auxiliary personnel.

Made of aluminum and steel, this stick pin is in EXCELLENT used condition! It features a 2nd Pattern Luftwaffe Eagle, clutching a swastika in its talons. Retains 95% of the original paint and finish, with NO breaks, cracks, or damage! Some slight marks and wear throughout, but nothing that detracts. A VERY NICE addition to any collection or display!
