Description
You are bidding on a SUPERB example of a 100% ORIGINAL WW2 German Luftwaffe Notzug Emergency Release Handle! This original bakelite pull handle represents the distinctive type of emergency control used throughout wartime German aircraft for manually operated emergency-release and jettison systems…such as gear release or canopy ejection. Used on the Me109, Fw190, Me262, Ju87, Me110, and other aircraft!
Notzug-style pull handles were used throughout Luftwaffe aircraft for a variety of emergency functions, including emergency landing-gear release, canopy jettison, and other manually operated release systems. Closely related handles can be found in aircraft including the Messerschmitt Me109, Focke-Wulf Fw190, Messerschmitt Me262, and other German types, although the exact attachment and linkage varied according to the aircraft and function. The well-known Me109 emergency landing-gear release, for example, utilized a visually similar Bakelite pull handle connected to a mechanical release linkage.
Made of bakelite/plastic and steel this handle is an AMAZING unused example. The Bakelite pull knob remains intact with NO cracks, breaks, or repairs, while the steel attachment hardware shows only normal age-related wear and minor surface oxidation. The threaded rear attachment remains completely intact. Unlike the longer rod-style connection commonly seen on some Me109 emergency landing-gear release installations, this example utilizes a threaded rear fitting, and I have therefore not attempted to attribute this particular handle to one specific aircraft type or emergency system. It may have been used in a landing-gear release, canopy jettison, or other emergency pull installation depending on the aircraft. The assembly remains structurally sound and complete as shown, with normal scratches, marks, and finish wear consistent with wartime use and storage. Everything present is 100% ORIGINAL wartime German manufacture. An EXTREMELY RARE original Luftwaffe emergency-control component and an excellent addition to any advanced German aircraft, cockpit, or restoration collection!
