Description
This compass was the main navigation device used by German aircraft. It was usually positioned in the rear fuselage of the aircraft, and sent a signal to the smaller, “Fuhrertochterkompass”, which was located on the pilot’s control panel. These two instruments would work together to indicate the aircraft’s heading to the pilot. It was used on almost all Fighters, Bombers, and Jets.
Made of aluminum, steel, and bakelite, this Mutterkompass is in EXCELLENT used condition! Removed from an aircraft it still retains 90% of it’s original paint and finish, with NO damage or corrosion! All the wiring is intact, and the data label is 100% clear and easy to read. Some dirt build-up and wear, due to the age, but that can easily be cleaned up. A couple of the suspension springs re broken (common(, but it does not affect the function. I have indicated its exact location in the Me109 and Fw190 in the last photo. Would make a FANTASTIC addition to any collection, display, or restoration project!
