Description

You are bidding on a VERY RARE example of a WW2 German Luftwaffe 6th Model 1940’s Junghans Aircraft Clock! Produced as presentation piece circa 1941, this variant was based on the original 5th version, and reintroduced the “Junghans” name onto the dial. This type was used in numerous aircraft types such as the Me109, Fw190, Me110, Me262, and many others!

Mounted on the main instrument panel, the Junghans Bo-UK I aircraft clock was developed for Luftwaffe aviation use and incorporated the firm’s J30 BZ chronograph movement. The fifth model represented the final standard wartime configuration introduced in 1941. A small number of clocks continuing this configuration were also produced by Junghans as presentation pieces, distinguished by the return of the Junghans name to the dial after it had previously been removed from standard production clocks. These presentation clocks are known to have been mounted in purpose-made wooden stands produced by Junghans, sometimes incorporating the company insignia, allowing the aircraft clock to be presented as a commemorative or honorary piece rather than solely as cockpit equipment.

Made of aluminum with a bakelite bezel, this 6th model Junghans clock is in EXCELLENT used condition! Some slight marks and wear, due to the age, but nothing that detracts. It outer casing retains approix. 90% original RLM66 paint, and the dial retains the RARE Junghans maker name associated with the Type 6 presentation version. The rear data plate is missing, but that is quite common. The dial still glows at night (must be charged with UV light, and it is 100% FUNCTIONAL! . An EXCELLENT and difficult-to-find example of the RARE circa 1941 Junghans Type 6 presentation aircraft clock, it would make a FANTASTIC addition to any advanced Luftwaffe aviation or aircraft instrument collection!
