Description
You are bidding on a VERY NICE relic example of a WW2 German Luftwaffe Messerschmitt Me109 Pitotrohr (Pitot Tube), Fl. 22261; complete with its original Staurohrhalterung (Mounting Assembly), 109.849-02 H 01! This complete assembly includes the original Pitot Tube; Aluminum Mounting Tube; and Internal Wiring / Pressure Hoses! Originating from the wreck of an Me109 G10, I will provide the loss information to the winning bidder.
This 24V, 30W instrument was located on the leading wing edge and measured the true airspeed, sending a signal to the main instrument panel. The Speedometer then indicated to the pilot the current velocity.
Made of brass, aluminum, and steel, this Pitot Tube and mount are in EXCELLENT relic condition! There is some slight corrosion, surface wear and some bending as shown, but VERY solid otherwise! There is no major structural damage, and the pitot tube itself remains intact (though present functional condition is not known). Still retains traces of the original camouflage paint! Remarkably, the original internal wiring and hoses are still retained inside the aluminum mounting tube. I have shown its location in the last images. A VERY NICE and highly displayable Me109 relic assembly, particularly desirable with its surviving internal components, and a FANTASTIC addition to any Me109 restoration, cockpit display or advanced Luftwaffe aviation collection!
