Description
You are bidding on a VERY NICE used example of a WW2 German Luftwaffe Aircraft FuG16 Radio Transceiver, Ln. 27180! This was used by ground units to communicate with various fighters and bombers, such as the Me109, Fw190, Me262, Do-335, He162, Me-163, and others!
The FuG16 was a VHF transceiver used to communicate with single seat fighter aircraft for R/T and W/T communications and were also used for ground fixes and DF homing on ground stations when used in conjunction with the FuG 10P or FuG 10ZY. Frequency Range was 38.5 to 42.3 MHz. The FuG 16 was also used for Y-Verfarhren (Y-Control) in which aircraft were fitted up as Leitjäger or Fighter Formation Leaders that could be tracked and directed from the ground via special R/T equipment.Made of aluminum, bakelite and steel, this early model FuG 16 is in EXCELLENT used condition! It is 100% complete with the Empfänger E16, Bediengerät BG16, and, Sender S16! No damage or corrosion, however there are some paint touch-ups that were done during the war, indicating that this was most likely heavily used throughout. 100% complete internally, with no missing parts that I can see. Mechanically functional, however I have not testing it electrically, so not sure if functional. Should be easy to get going, but I will leave that to the winning bidder. Features the adapter plate to fit the remote tuning units, which indicates it was mot likely installed in an aircraft at one time. Cover has the often-missing internal label. Some scratches, marks and dents throughout. The cover that is at the top is a replacement, as the original was most likely damaged (very common). I have shown its location inside the Do335 cockpit in the last photo. A VERY RARE and FANTASTIC addition to any collection or restoration project!
