Description
You are bidding on a SUPERB used example of a WW2 German Kriegsmarine Kieninger & Obergfell 8-day Navy Clock, as used in many Navy Ships, U-Boats, and Command Centers!
Made of brass, aluminum, and steel, this K & O Ship’s Clock was produced between 1939 and 1942. It is a EXCELLENT example and retains its original brass finish! A couple of dents and marks (normal due to the age), however it is still VERY SOLID! Both the serial number and all markings are intact, including the full KM Adler. 100% FUNCTIONAL, this type of clock is shown on page 182/183 of Konrad Knirim’s Military Timepieces Book. No winding key present, but replacements are very easy to find. Dial appears to be the earlier “all brass” face, as opposed to the later ones that had a nickel plating. These clocks were located in various areas of the ship, including the Command Room; Officer Mess; Crew Quarters; Engine Room; and Radio Room. I have shown this exact clock in use on the Prinz Eugen in the last photo. Unlike all the fake clocks that are on eBay coming out of Russia and the Ukraine, this is an UNTOUCHED original! An EXTREMELY RARE piece of history, it would make a FANTASTIC addition to any collection or display!
