Description
The “Machine Gun Sight, Type C-3” is listed as a pre-war aircraft gunsight in the NARA Records of the Bureau of Ordnance, 1914 – 1996. The entry shows a date of February 3, 1930, so it is most likely a WW1 through to WW2 sighting system.
Made of steel, this gunsight set is in EXCELLENT used condition! Though it is 100 years old, it still retains most of the original paint and finish! The larger rear sight is missing most of the horizontal wire “steps”, but that can easily be rectified. No other markings on the sights. They seem a bit small to be used as a sight for a Heavy Machine Gun, so I am not sure of the exact weapon these were used on. I have shown similar examples in the last images. The storage case is clearly marked, “Gun Sight Type C-3“. Requires some further research. Would make a PERFECT addition to any collection or display!
