WW II German Navy – STEEL RELICS DISPLAY & BASE – BATTLESHIP SCHLESIEN – RARE!

You are bidding on a SUPERB and VERY RARE WW2 German Kriegsmarine Battleship “Schlesien” Steel Plate Relic!  This was removed in 1939, just after the attack on Poland.

The SMS Schlesien was a pre-dreadnought battleship built for the German Imperial Navy, commissioned in 1908. From September 21-27 1939 she was used to bombard Polish artillery positions around Hel, the first naval battle of war.  After the operation, he 15cm guns were removedO to arm the Cruiser “Penguin”.  On May 3, 1945 she struck a British mine and was scuttled in shallow water so she could not be sunk by air attack. Between 1949 and 1956, the wreck was demolished and then scrapped.

 Made of wood and steel, this AMAZING relic display is a FANTASTIC example!  Recovered froim the SMS Schlesien, it features two pieces of solid iron from the ship, with a small inscription indicating, “Hela 21. – 27.9.1939″ (most likely cut from the deck just after the operation, when her guns were removed).  Attached to the front is a small Imperial German Eagle crest with the ribbon ‘Linienschiff Schlesien’ .  An anchor is mounted in front on the base.  Some slight marks and wear due to the age,m but nothing that detracts.  Measures approx. 3.5″ x3.5” in size.  An EXTREMELY RARE piece of history, it would make a FANTASTIC addition to any collection or display!
