You are bidding on a BEAUTIFUL and BOXED example of an WW2 German Luftwaffe Armkompaß (Wrist Compass), as used by various German pilots and crew members.  This specific type was used more by the Fallschirmjager (paratroopers), due to the smaller size, when compared to the standard AK-39.
 

The AK39 Wrist Compass was designed for wear by pilots and crew for correctly calculating their position if forced to bail out or after a crash.  Though it was designed to be worn on the wrist, it was commonly attached to various other pieces of equipment (zipper, straps, etc.).  This smaller type was made in either occupied France or Czechoslovakia.

 Made of bakelite and leather, this compass is in SUPERB unused condition!  98% of the original finish remains, however there are some very minor marks due to the age.  Captured at war’s end, it features 360 degree markings on the face, and it is still 100% functional.  The makers mark, “sbe” is clearly indicated on the bottom.  A VERY NICE and original item for any collection or display!
