Description
You are bidding on a STUNNING and VERY RARE example of a WW2 German Luftwaffe KG13 C Control Stick Grip, as used ONLY in the Me262 Turbo Jet Fighter Aircraft! This was removed from an Me262 A-1a at at the end of the war. The KG13 C was mounted directly between the pilots legs, and gave him control of the aircraft, weapons (MG, Cannon, Bombs, and Radio). Most aircraft control grips after WW2 were based on this German design. Made of steel, aluminum, and bakelite, this grip would have been manufactured between 1944 and 1945. Removed from a wreck Me262 Turbo Jet at the end of the war, it has some slight marks and wear, but is otherwise VERY solid! Spring trigger works perfectly, as do all buttons! The Data Label under the terminal box cover is intact (clearly indicating KG13 C). The rear of the grip is stamped, 102-517 A-1. There is no data plate at the rear, which is standard for the KG13C. All wiring is intact, and the charging button for the Mk108 Cannon is still mounted on the side! Note that the STANDARD control stick used in the Me262 was the KG13C. This is actually the ONLY KG13C I have seen that was installed in an Me262! Clearly identifiable as from an Me262 Turbo Jet, due to the wiring set-up and MK108 button. I have shown its location in the last photos. A VERY RARE example, it would make a SUPERB addition to any collection, display, or restoration project!
