Description
This motor was used on all Jumo 004 and BMW 003 Jet Turbine equipped aircraft such as the Me262, Ar234, He162, etc. The Reidel motor was the MAIN starter motor which drove the turbines during start-up. It was located in the central nose-cone of the engine. The Mechanic would start these engines by pulling the metal cord which protruded (similar to starting a lawn mower).
Made of aluminum, bakelite, and steel, this item is EASILY the best one I have ever sen in the last 25 years! 100% COMPLETE, it is in New Old Stock Condition! There are some slight marks due to the age, but still VERY solid! Various part numbers throughout, and retains the RARE Carburetor; Heat Shields; Springs; Wiring; Pull Cable, Grasping Ring; Spark Plugs; and ALL Hoses/Connections! The VERY INTERESTING feature is that the steel Heat Shields still have 98% ORIGINAL late-war RLM 76 Camouflage Paint! I have not tested it for function, so I will leave that to the winning bidder to determine. One of the most ICONIC Me262 items around, it would make a FANTASTIC addition to any collection, display, or restoration project!
