WWW2 German Wehrmacht / Heer Officer Dagger & Portepee – “Tiger” – VERY NICE!

1 in stock

You are bidding on a VERY NICE example of a WW2 German Wehrmacht / Heer Officer Dagger & Portepee!  It comes complete with the original scabbard!

On May 4, 1935, Hitler introduced the dress dagger for optional wear with the walking out dress, along with specifically designed dagger hangers and a portepee. Originally designed as a functional item to secure the blade sidearm to the holder’s wrist the portepee evolved into a purely decorative accessory. It was intended for wear by all Officers and Senior NCO’s with permission to wear the dagger. Production of the dress dagger ceased on May 27, 1943 and further wear of the dress dagger was prohibited on September 5, 1944.

Made of steel, and nickel/silver zinc and aluminum, this dagger is in EXCELLENT condition! Some slight marks on the blade, but nothing that detracts. It is clearly marked, “Tiger, Solingen”, along with the manufacture logo. The dagger has a cast alloy, crossguard, ferrule, and pommel…along with an army national eagle with outstretched wings, clutching a wreathed swastika in its talons. Oak leaf pattern adorn the ferrule and pommel. The dagger has a molded, dark orange celluloid grip. Scabbard features a pebbled pattern, and both the hanger suspension rings are intact. Comes complete with the original portepee. Overall a VERY NICE example, it would make a SUPERB addition to any collection or display!

Although my passion is the Me109, I do offer many other German Aircraft (Fw190, Me262, etc.), as well as USAF and Japanese items. Occasionally I do offer many non-vintage items such as prints and art relating to the time period. As a private collector myself, I am constantly on the lookout for historical memorabilia, authentic photographs, artwork or anything unique relating to military aircraft.
