You are bidding on a VERY NICE example of a WW2 US Navy Waltham 8-day Ship Chronometer Deck Clock! This was used by various Torpedo Boats and Ships.

The first mounted chronometer watch purchased by the Naval Observatory was made by Waltham in 1907. The first was serial number 16,628,501. Over the period of 29 years, ending in 1936, Waltham made 16,000 of these clocks with the final serial number being 28,924,500.
Made of wood, brass, aluminum, and steel, this early Waltham Ship Deck Clock is in EXCELLENT used condition!  It features a 12 hour display, along with a second hand dial at the 6 o’clock position. It is 100% functional, and features the wording, “Waltham Watch Co.” in the center of the dial. Dial is in near PERFECT condition and indicates this as being an 8-day movement. It comes complete in the ORIGINAL wood box, and mounted on a gimbaled ring. All the original glass is intact, though there are various marks and scratches on the casing, due to the age. The serial number 22833960 dates this around 1918, I believe. The power reserve is of the “spot” style (later models had a count-down indicator). A VERY NICE item, perfect for any collection, or display!
