You are bidding on a SUPERB example of a WW2 US Navy Mk. 14 Gyroscopic Gun Sight! This gunsight was used specifically in gunner positions of various Battleships, Destroyers, Cruisers, and other vessels!
gyroscopically-stabilized Mark 14, Modification 15, Gun Sight, was mounted on
40MM Bofors Anti-Aircraft guns on fighting ships of the US Navy during WWII. The spinning gyro stabilized the illuminated reticle that appeared
in the sight window as the gunner aimed at oncoming aircraft, thereby
overcoming the tossing and rolling movement of the ship to which the gun was
Made of aluminum, steel, and glass, and dating around 1944, this is an AMAZING NOS example. Though there are some scratches and wear from storage, it retains 98% of it’s original finish! All the glass is original to this sight, and the data plate is 100% intact, and clearly indicates the model and type. A bit of dust and dirt from storage, but that can easily be rectified by the winning bidder. Comes complete in the original box, various manuals and instructions, locking key for case latches, and a thin optical scope. I have shown its location in the last photos. Would make an EXCELLENT addition to any collection, display, or simply as a conversation piece!

——————- ABOUT ME —————–
Although my passion is the Me109, I do offer many other German Aircraft (Fw190, Me262, etc.), as well as USAF and Japanese items. Occasionally I do offer many non-vintage items such as prints and art relating to the time period. As a private collector myself, I am constantly on the lookout for historical memorabilia, authentic photographs, artwork or anything unique relating to military aircraft.
