You are bidding on a VERY NICE used example of a WW2 US Army / Navy Aircraft Elgin AN5743 Cockpit Clock! This was used in various cockpits such as the P-51 Mustang and B-29 Superfortress!
During World War II, Waltham, Bulova, and Elgin produced a variety of time pieces to support the war effort. These particular 8 day clocks were used in the cockpits of B-17s and B-29s. Named the A-11, they matched the name of the accompanying wrist watches also used by pilots of the time.
Made of brass and steel, this Waltham AN5743 Cockpit Clock is in GOOD used condition. It does have some marks, scratches, and wear on the dial, but nothing that detracts. Sadly, it is missing the glass, and it is currently non-functional, as the hands are frozen. The main spring and balance staff are GOOD (not broken), and it can be moved manually. However, as the hands are frozen, it will not run. The hands will need to be freed up and removed. There are NO broken parts from from what I can see (second hand ahs come away, as you can see). Even though the movement is 100% functional, I am selling this for parts or repair. The reverse is marked:
ORDER NO. AC- 34898
MFR’S PART NO. 1776
SPEC No. 94-27970 A834-43
ELGIN NAT’L WATCH CO.
The casing itself is quite good, retaining most of its finish, with some slight signs of wear, but nothing that detracts. Would make an EXCELLENT addition to any collection or display!
Please email me if you need additional photos or information.

——————- TERMS OF SALE —————–
Most of my items are vintage, and as such are AS-IS, so you must therefore expect a degree of wear due to age and/or usage. I will describe each auction to the best of my knowledge and take as many photos necessary to ensure you are pleased upon receiving your item. All sales are final, so please make sure your questions are answered to your satisfaction before you purchase.
——————- ABOUT ME —————–
Although my passion is the Me109, I do offer many other German Aircraft (Fw190, Me262, etc.), as well as USAF and Japanese items. Occasionally I do offer many non-vintage items such as prints and art relating to the time period. As a private collector myself, I am constantly on the lookout for historical memorabilia, authentic photographs, artwork or anything unique relating to military aircraft.
