Description
This vacuum-driven gyro horizon measured the turn angle and side-slip of the aircraft, relayed the current horizon. It was located on the main instrument panel on many US Army Fighter and Bomber fighters.
Made of aluminum and steel, this horizon dates to 1942, and would have been used right up until the end of the war. 90% of the original finish remains, with some slight marks and wear due to the age. The cage knobs functions correctly; and the center knob adjusts, the indexing indicator for the view angle of the pilot. The data labels are also, intact, indicating the manufacture and part number. I have shown its location in the last images. Would make a FANTASTIC addition to any collection, restoration project, or panel re-build!
