Description
You are bidding on a VERY RARE used example of a WW2 Imperial Japanese Army ELECTRICALLY HEATED Winter Flight Helmet! This was used by various Japanese Pilots and Crew Members during High Altitude Missions or Open Cockpits.
Made of a light brown leather and rabbit fur, this helmet is EASILY the rarest one I have had! It is constructed of multiple separate pieces of brown leather, with a prominent 2-dimensional 5 pointed Japanese Army Star sewn to the front. The ear cups are the smaller type, and made of hardened leather, each having 30mm holes in the center for mounted the communication equipment/receivers. All straps are fully functional, and all the buckles and tabs work perfectly. Some slight wear, as well as some damage and cracking, but that could be restored by the winning bidder. Given the rarity, it would not affect the value much. Very similar to the standard winter flight helmet, this type extended slightly lower to protect the back of the neck, and front of the cheeks/chin. The SUPERB feature is that this is the ELECTRICALLY HEATED variant, which I have only have one other before…and still retains original electrical connector at the back! A PERFECT item for any collection or display!
