You are bidding on a SUPERB example of an EARLY Imperial Japanese Army Type 97 Magnetic Compass, as used ONLY in the Ki-27 “Nate” and Ki-9 “Spruce”!
This instrument indicated the current direction of the aircraft and pointed to magnetic north. It was located on the main instrument panel of the early Nakajima Ki-27 Fighter, and Tachikawa Ki-9 Trainer.
There is only ONE complete Ki-27 left in the world and ONE Ki-9!!! As such, like most Japanese instruments, this gauge is VERY rare and would be a FANTASTIC addition to any Japanese Instrument Collection!
Made of brass and aluminum by the Tokyo Aero Indicator Co., this piece is in EXCELLENT condition! It was taken from a downed Japanese aircraft by a US Serviceman during the war, and still retains 95% of it’s original finish! There is an air bubble at the top, but it still features 75% of it’s original fluid! The fluid has darkened over time, but this could easily be replaced, if one wished. 100% functional, it features an early-war Type 3 aluminum data plate, clearly stating the model, manufacture, and production number. Also features a date of February 1942. There is some paint fading and chipping due to the age, but nothing that take away from the overall appearance. Also has the original mount!

——————- TERMS OF SALE —————–
Most of my items are vintage, and as such are AS-IS, so you must therefore expect a degree of wear due to age and/or usage. All sales are final, so please make sure your questions are answered to your satisfaction before you purchase.
——————- ABOUT ME —————–
Although my passion is the Me109, I do offer many other German Aircraft (Fw190, Me262, etc.), as well as USAF and Japanese items. Occasionally I do offer many non-vintage items such as prints and art relating to the time period. As a private collector myself, I am constantly on the lookout for historical memorabilia, authentic photographs, artwork or anything unique relating to military aircraft.
