Description
You are bidding on a SUPERB example of a WW2 Imperial Japanese Army Type 94-5 Radio Transmitter! This item was brought back by a US veteran who served in the pacific.
The Type 94-5 Wireless Set was considered the Company and Battalion level radio. The Battalion signal company would send a radio team down to each company to provide communication back to the battalion. The battalion also used these sets to stay in touch with regimental headquarters. The set was transported in two chests, with one of the chests containing the transmitter, the receiver and the accessory bag. This station is made up of a receiver, a transmitter, a hand cranked generator and related accessories. The transmitter is a small, one tube set, powered by a hand cranked generator.
Made of steel, aluminum, bakelite and leather, this transmitter is in STUNNING used condition! The case is VERY SOLID, retaining 98% paint, with only few minor wear and chips due to the age. It is 100% complete internally, with no missing parts, and ALSO still contains the VERY RARE 6 Volt UZ 12 C Tube! It features the RARE leather flaps (these were usually removed by US veterans) as well as the original carrying strap. Though the strap shows slight wear, there are NO signs of cracking! The main data plate on the case is 100% intact, and the serial number, “9244” matches the serial number of the radio. This number is also hand-written on the information card, confirming this is a 100% MATCHING set! Data plate indicates a manufacture date of November 1942. The Kanji Characters for “Transmitter” is written on the front of the leather flaps. Though complete, and mechanically functional, I have not tested it electrically, so I am selling this as-is. I will leave that for the winning bidder to determine functionality. Easily the NICEST and most COMPLETE transmitter I have had of its type, it would make a PERFECT addition to any collection or display!
