Description
You are bidding on a SUPERB and EXTREMELY RARE set of WW2 Imperial Japanese Army Pilot and Aircrew Flight Boots!
Development of protective flight uniforms, equipment and footwear began with the advent of military aircraft in WWI and continued into WW2. Flight boots were considered an integral part of the flight suit.
Made of cowhide leather and rubber, this is probably the most AMAZING sets I have owned! In EXCELLENT unused condition, they are EASILY identifiable as being Japanese Army, due to the unique construction and pattern of the soles. The leather is still soft and supple, however as they have been in storage for 80+ years, they do feature some marks and wear. No tears, damage, holes, or repairs! The fabric loops located on the inside of each boot, were used to hang the boots in a storage locker. The interior of the boots are fully lined in fur for cold weather use, dating them around 1944. The top inside features inspection stamps. Also features manufacture info on the soles. These are a MATCHING set, and are marked as a size “Medium”, in Kanji (an approx size 9 US). Note that the rubber soles have hardened over time, but that is quite typical of Japanese rubber of this period. I have indicated this EXACT type in use in the last photos. Would make a PERFECT addition to any collection or display!
