You are bidding on a SUPERB example of a WW2 Imperial Japanese Army 10×6 degree Theodolite! This was specifically used by Army personnel for Artillery and Observation!
The Japanese Army Theodolite is a precision optical instrument used for laying out permanent Gun Sites, Airfields and Buildings. It was is used by a surveyor to measure precise horizontal and vertical angles for the triangulation (location) of defined sites.
Made of aluminum, brass, and steel by Toko (?) this 10 x 6 degree theodolite is in EXCELLENT used condition! The lens bodies retain about 98% of their original paint and finish, as well as the end piece fitting. Eye sockets is intact, and the focus adjustment still functions perfectly! The main optic is clear, but does have some dust particles (see photo). It is marked with the serial numeber 2708 on the optic and base. Some very slight wear due to the age, but otherwise SUPERB! All adjustments function as they should, and none of the spirit levels are damaged! It comes COMPLETE in the original transport box, that features Kanji writing on the front. Various accessories are also included, and the leather straps are still fully intact! A couple small spare parts seem to be missing from the door. Would make a SUPERB addition to any Japanese or optics collection!
Please note that the tripod shown in the first photos is NOT part of the auction. That items is listed separately.
