You are bidding on an AMAZING example of a WW2 German BLACK Wound Badge, as used to various personnel throughout the war! This comes with the original issue paperwork from Volks Grenadier Division 558!

Wound Badges were originally established on March 3,1918  to recognize the sacrifice of those wounded during WW1.  They were re-designed in WW2, with an image of the M35 Helmet replacing the earlier pattern.  Various classes of badges were issued, depending on the severity of the wounds inflicted (black badge for one or two wounds; silver badge for three or four wounds; and a gold badge for five or more wounds). 

Made of stamped steel/metal, this Black Wound Badge is in STUNNING used condition!  Retaining 99% original paint, it is oval in shape, it features a high relief profile of an M35 pattern helmet over top of two crossed swords. As it is stamped in construction, the reverse is mirror image of the front. Pin is original and complete. Comes with the original paper award document, dated February 19, 1945. A PERFECT addition to any collection or display!
