Description
You are bidding on a VERY RARE used example of a 100% original WW2 German Wehrmacht / Luftwaffe 80 W.S.a. VHF Panzer Radio Transmitter! This was used in various COMMAND Tanks, Tank Destroyers, and Armoured Cars!
The 80 W.S.a. radio receiver is a superheterodyne Ultra Short Wave radio used in many vehicles. Part of the complete FuG 5 radio system, it was used in the Sd.Kfz.101, Sd.Kfz.141, Sd.Kfz.141/1, Sd.Kfz.141/2, Sd.Kfz.142, 10.5 cm K18 auf Panzer-Selbstfahrlafette, Kugelblitz, Wirbelwind, Flakpanzer IV, Sd.Kfz.171, Sd.Kfz.267, Sd.Kfz269, Sd.Kfz.173, Sd.Skf.173/1, Sd.Kfz.181, Sd.Kfz.267/268, Sd.Kfz.166, Sd.Kfz.166/1, Sd.Kfz.184, Sd.Kfz.251/6.
It was used in tank division and tank brigade radio sets especially in liaison operations with reconnaissance cars and tanks, replacing the 30 W.S.a. German receivers appropriate for use with this transmitter are types Torn.E.b, L.w.Ea., and Mw.E.c.
Used as a Command Radio in order to communicate between tanks and other vehicles, this item is in GEXCELLENT used condition! Made by Telefunken, it does feature some slight marks and wear, but nothing that detracts. Appears to be almost 100% COMPLETE internally, and mechanically functional, however, I do not know if it is electrically functional. As such, I am selling this “as-is”. Various manufacture marks and Waffenamts throughout! A few of the data labels are missing, so I am including some extras I have on-hand (see last photo). One volt meter (common) was also removed, but that can be added. The cover plate is missing, but those do come up by themselves, so it should be easy to replace. Would be a PERFECT addition to any collection or restoration project!
