Description

You are bidding on an EXTREMELY RARE example of an original late-war WW2 German Wehrmacht MG34/MG42 Gunner’s Tool Pouch, manufactured in 1945! Made of Presstoff and Ersatz Leather, this is the specialized carrying pouch issued for the maintenance and servicing tools.

By the final years of the war, German equipment production increasingly relied upon substitute materials as supplies of natural leather and other strategic materials became restricted. Presstoff, a compressed paper-fiber material treated to produce a tough leather-like surface, was widely employed alongside ersatz leather, webbing, and simplified hardware. These materials became especially characteristic of late-war field equipment manufactured during 1944–45.

Made of Presstoff, Ersatz Leather, and Canvas Webbing, this example is in near-mint used condition!  There are no cracks, repairs, restitching, loose seams, or damaged components…and all closures, straps, and fittings remain EXCELLENT! Only slight age-related oxidation is present on portions of the steel hardware. The pouch is complete internally, retaining the original bolt-retaining clip as well as the internal dividers, both of which are frequently absent. The interior of the closing flap is clearly maker- and date-marked “fuq 1945″.All materials, stitching, fittings, and components are 100% original wartime manufacture, making this an exceptional late-war MG34 / MG42 accessory for any advanced German equipment or machine-gun collection!
