Description
You are bidding on a VERY NICE used example of a WW2 German Wehrmacht M1939 “Pony Fur” (Tornister) Backpack!
Based on the earlier Prussian Back Pack, this model was introduced in November 1934. Issued to all personnel, it saw use up to as late as 1944.
Made of tan/green colored Canvas, Cow Hide, and Leather this Tornister Backpack is in EXCELLENT condition for its age! It features brown leather straps and single pronged metal buckles. There is some very minor wear, as well as some fur missing, but nothing that affects the function or takes away from the overall appearance. All straps are present, however, the shoulder straps were jury rigged during the war, and are attached with a standard equipment strap in the middle. Features a manufacture stamp and production date of 1939. Has a hand-written name in a few areas, and also comes with a couple of extra equipment straps attached to the sides. Larger in size than the Youth Marching Pack (33cm x 30cm x 6cm), this standard ARMY version is 38cm x 30cm x 10cm. An EXCELLENT addition to any collection or display!
