Description
The M31 Feldflasche was standard issue throughout the German armed forces and remained one of the most recognizable pieces of Wehrmacht field equipment. Its leather harness wrapped around the canteen body and incorporated the suspension hardware needed to secure the bottle to the belt or equipment system, while the upper retaining strap held the cap and drinking cup assembly in place. Original harnesses were heavily used in the field and are frequently encountered today with broken straps, replaced hardware, or wartime repairs.
Made of brown leather with original steel and aluminum fittings, this original M31 Feldflasche Harness Assembly is in GOOD used condition! The leather remains intact and serviceable with normal scratches, wear, staining, and age-related surface marks from wartime use. The original Bakelite cap is present and remains intact with NO major cracks or serious damage. At the point where the leather straps meet, one section has been secured with a metal rivet, which appears to be an old field repair made to keep the harness firmly together during service. The repair is solid and does not detract from the overall display, but it is clearly visible and has been described for accuracy. The remaining straps and fittings are present as shown, with NO modern replacement parts noted. Everything present is 100% ORIGINAL wartime German manufacture. A VERY NICE original M31 Feldflasche component with genuine field character, ideal for completing a German canteen display or adding to a Wehrmacht field-equipment collection!
