WW2 German Wehrmacht – M31 ALUMINUM CANTEEN – HWSD 38 – ALL MATCHING!

The M31 canteen was based on the M1893 and M1907 canteen which were used throughout WW1.  These were originally manufactured in aluminum, but as aluminum was required for use in other equipment (aircraft, for example), they were then re-designed to be manufactured in steel. For tropical climates, the canteen was made of pressed wood with canvas straps.

Made of aluminum, leather, and steel, this canteen set is in EXCELLENT condition for its age. Some marks and wear throughout, but nothing that detracts. All items are marked wit the manufacture code and date, “HWSD 38“. No mothing that I can see. Leather is a bit dry, with some cracking as you can see in the photos. Missing the canteen cup, but those are easy to find. Would make a SUPERB addition to any collection or display!
