Description
You are bidding on a VERY NICE and 100% ORIGINAL example of a WW2 German Wehrmacht 2nd Class War Merit Cross with Swords! This comes complete in the original emvelope.
Introduced on October 18, 1939, in two distinct classes, both with and without swords, this medal was awarded to both military and civilian personnel for exceptional service or bravery, in a non-combatant role. The addition of swords to the award signified bravery, while awards without swords were for service.
Made of a die struck bronze alloy, this award is in VERY nice condition! It features a Maltese cross, with a central swastika encircled by an oakleaf wreath. Reverse indicates the original instituted date of 1939. This variant features the swords, which cross through the center. Some slight marks and wear throughout, but nothing that detracts. Comes complete with the original ribbon and issue envelope (envelope has some slight wear and tears). A VERY NICE addition to any collection or display!
