Description
You are bidding on a SUPERB and VERY RARE example of a WW2 German Wehrmacht Tank Crewman Leather Jacket! Though this type was usually used by Kriegsmarine Personnel on various U-Boats and Ships…these were often converted by Tank Crewman, such as Michael Wittmann and other members of the 12th “Elite” Panzer Division!
Manufactured in a heavy black leather, this is a VERY NICE ITEM, not commonly seen on the market (though there are a few companies that make reproductions). It remains in SUPERB condition for its age, with only slight wear and marks from use, and NO major damage! The leather is VERY soft and supple! The original Kriegsmarine buttons were removed during the war, and were replaced with the standard Wehrmacht pebbled examples, proving it was used by the Army, and not the Navy. All buttons are original wartime, and marked, “Assmann”. Features large pockets for maps, pistol, and other accessories. Also has a smaller internal pocket. The manufacture label is still present and is VERY CLEAR. Though I cannot make out the size…this is a MEDIUM, and fits around a 38-40″ chest (depending on how many layers are worn underneath). I have shown Michael Wittmann wearing the single-breasted version of this jacket (also with the replaced buttons). A PERFECT addition to any collection or display!
