WW2 German Wehrmacht Koppeltraggestell für Infanterie – COMBAT Y-STRAPS – NICE!

The combat Y-straps were developed in April 1939 along with the M39 backpack to replace the earlier M34 backpack with integral shoulder straps. The combat Y-straps were also utilized with other backpacks including the A-Frame Assault pack and were designed to assist in distributing the weight of the equipment carried on the load bearing waist belt to the shoulders.

Made of leather, aluminum, and steel, this Y-Strap set is set is in EXCELLENT condition for its age. Some marks and wear throughout due to the age, as well as some slight corrosion to the steel fittings, but nothing that detracts. Features an original (though faint) RBN Number stamped into the main strap, and most fittings appear to be period correct. I believe the main aluminum buckles are from the late 1940s (though they are made by the same wartime manufacture, and stamped as such); as well as the leather rear central support strap. The great thing is that these are easy to replace with period correct items, so should bes an easy swap, if one wishes. Would make a SUPERB addition to any collection or display!
