Description
You are bidding on an AMAZING and 100% ORIGINAL example of a WW2 German Wehrmacht SCREW BACK variant of the 1st Class Iron Cross!
The Iron Cross was re-introduced on September 1, 1939 (based on the original 1813 & WW1 Prussian Design), in two distinct classes. The 2nd class award was presented to anyone displaying an act of bravery; the 1st class for anyone displaying 3 or more acts of bravery.
Made of a die struck alloy, this 1st Class Iron Cross is in SUPERB used condition! Marked “L58”, it is made by Rudolf Souval, and features some slight marks, wear, and tarnishing due to the age, but nothing that detracts (could easy be cleaned-up). The front features an embossed cross/swastika, along with the date, “1939” at the bottom. A VERY RARE and sought-after maker, it would make a PERFECT addition to any collection or display!
