Description

You are bidding on a VERY NICE used example of a 100% ORIGINAL German Heer (Army) Infantry Officer Visor Cap (Schirmmütze)!  This was brought back by a US Veteran, however I do not have any further history.

Visor caps were a standard issue for all personnel.  The different branches of service within the army were allocated a specific, identifying, waffenfarbe, (Branch of Service Color).  With white being chosen for Infantry personnel, this was displayed as piping for EM/NCO’s and Company and Field grade officers. Officers and certain senior NCO ranks were responsible for purchasing their own caps and as a result were allotted a clothing allowance.  They could choose to purchase their caps from the armed forces clothing depots or privately purchase caps of higher quality.

Made of Field Grey wool, this Officer Visor Cap is in EXCELLENT condition considering it’s age!  Some slight marks, but NO mothing or holes!  Features a dark cloth center band and white piping (indicating “Infantry”) to the crown, as well as on the top and bottom edges of the center band.   The center has a second pattern Army Eagle, as well as a second pattern wreath and cockade.  It has a silver braid/cord chinstrap (indicating an Officer rank), which is secured by two pebbled buttons, as well as a black visor.  The interior of the cap is fully lined in a brushed tan rayon, and features a COMPLETE manufacture label and cellophane!  Marked as a size 57.  Would make a PERFECT addition to any collection or display!
