Visor caps were a standard issue for all personnel. Officers and certain senior NCO ranks were responsible for purchasing their own caps and as a result were allotted a clothing allowance. They could choose to purchase their caps from the armed forces clothing depots or privately purchase caps of higher quality. Visor caps were a standard issue for all personnel. The different branches of service within the army were allocated a specific, identifying, waffenfarbe, (Branch of Service Color). With yellow being chosen for Flieger (Pilots) personnel, this was displayed as piping for EM/NCO’s and Company and Field grade officers. Made of a Field Grey Cotton/Rayon, this Officer’s Visor Cap is in SUPERB condition considering i’s age! As it was worn, there are some slight marks and wear throughout…but nothing that detracts. It features a dark cloth center band. The center has a full second pattern Army Eagle, as well as a second pattern wreath and cockade. It has the standard silver cord chinstrap, which is secured by two pebelled buttons. The interior of the cap is fully lined in a RARE material, identical to the lining material of officer jacket sleeves Some sweat marks/stains as you can see in the photos. The leather sweatband is fully intact, but does have some slight damage. One of the NICEST ones I have seen in a while, it would make a PERFECT addition to any collection or display!
