Description
Hans Liska was well known for his dynamic combat drawings, soldier studies, and frontline sketch work, much of which was used in published documentary-style art books during the war. Softcover sketchbooks such as this were produced in smaller formats and typically contain reproduced drawings and studies showing uniforms, equipment, soldiers, and combat scenes, serving as visual records rather than instructional manuals.
Hans Liska was born on November 19, 1907 in Vienna, Austria. He was an Austrian artist, painter, commercial artist and illustrator. He attended economic school and worked as a bureaucrat. A secondary job as a pianist helped him apply to University of Applied Arts Vienna. There he was a student of Berthold Löffler a friend of Oskar Kokoschka.
This EXTREMELY RARE art series is in SUPERB used condition! Though there is some wear and marks, there are NO rips or tears on the art pages! Originally commissioned by Junkers, it features approx. 40 images of watercolors and pencil sketches depicting the men and machines of the Heer, Luftwaffe, and Kriegsmarine! Condition is VERY NICE overall, showing expected handling wear to the cover, light surface wear, and age toning consistent with wartime paper stock. Binding remains intact. Interior pages are complete and legible with no major damage observed. A VERY DESIRABLE Hans Liska reference piece that fits well with German wartime art and illustration collections, it would make a VERY RARE addition to any collection or display!
