Description
Heinz Guderian was one of the most influential German armored commanders of WW2 and played a central role in the development and employment of concentrated Panzer formations and rapid combined-arms warfare. He commanded XIX Army Corps during the campaigns in Poland and France and later Panzergruppe 2 during the invasion of the Soviet Union. Guderian was awarded the Knight’s Cross of the Iron Cross on October 27, 1939 and the Oak Leaves on July 17, 1941. He later served as Inspector General of Armored Troops and, from 1944, as Chief of the Army General Staff. Wartime Willrich portrait postcards of senior German commanders were widely distributed and collected during the period, while genuinely hand-signed examples by major figures such as Guderian are substantially more desirable than unsigned cards.
Made of period printed cardstock, this postcard is in EXCELLENT used condition! There is some very slight age-related yellowing, however there are NO tears, bends, creases, repairs, stains, or other notable damage. The front features the original color Willrich portrait of Generaloberst Heinz Guderian and retains his large original wartime ink signature across the lower portion of the image. The reverse remains clean and unused, with the original printed publisher and series information clearly visible. The printed image and signature remain clear and well defined. Everything is 100% ORIGINAL, wartime manufacture and wartime signed, making this a VERY NICE autographed example associated with one of the best-known German Panzer commanders of WW2! PERFECT for any collection or display!
