Description

You are bidding on a SUPERB set of WW2 German Wehrmacht Dfh.b Kopfhörer (Headphones)! A RARE 1945 dated style, this specific type was used in Tanks and Armoured Vehicles used both by the Heer, Luftwaffe, and Kriegsmarine!

In pre-42 Panzer III/IVs (before the introduction of the intercom box 20), the radioman wore the Dfh.b headset. All other crew members wore the Dfh.d headsets, which were connected to intercom connection points (socket box units Z19 or Z20). Dfh.d headsets are easily identified by their small plugs with short stubby prongs. Externally, other than the plug and markings, they were identical to the Dfh.b, but internally they were totally different in their makeup. Because these headsets needed to serve a system that had no amplification, the resistance value is only 54 ohm whereas the Dfh.b is 2000 ohm.

Made of aluminum, steel, and bakelite, this Panzer headset is in EXCELLENT unused condition! The earpieces are still fully adjustable, and they retain approx. 95% of their original paint and finish! The original plug and wiring remains; and both earpieces feature their original markings, indicating:

Dfh.b

45

Being the later type, this is the SIMPLIFIED variant, where the eliminated the leather from the steel headband to save on production costs. One especially interesting feature is that the headset uses Dfh.b marked retaining clips on both sides, with the opposite side mounted upside down instead of the normal blank or maker-marked clip (a detail strongly suggesting late-war / last-ditch assembly using available parts). Missing the rubber earpads, but those are an easy replacement. Would make a FANTASTIC item for any collection or display!
